About Tateswim

Tateswim is a leading provider of swim squad training for competitive and recreational swimmers of all ages.

From juniors who are joining a squad for the first time right up to National level swimmers, Tateswim’s experienced and accredited coaches focus on improving technique, strength and fitness as part of the swimming program.

Tateswim is managed by Greg, Mark and Bev Tate. Between them they have a combined 95 years of coaching experience. They care about the progress of every swimmer and encourage members to enjoy swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Tateswim (originally named Bev Tate Swim School) was established in 1991 at Mount Scopus College (Burwood campus) and has been operating at the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre since it opened in late 2001, in partnership with M1 Swimming Club (formerly Waverley Swimming Club).

In 2019, Tateswim expanded to operate squads at the Huntingtower Sports and Aquatic Centre in Mount Waverley.

Swimmers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and join a positive and inclusive community of swimmers who love their sport.

We believe in...

Long term approach

We want swimmers to enjoy the experience of swimming, and hopefully keep that for life. In our view, swimming should not be a means to an end but an end in itself.

At Tateswim, we love that many swimmers have been in our program for over 10 years!

Maintaining a balanced lifestyle

We encourage swimmers to maintain a balanced lifestyle which includes striking a good balance between sport, study, social, family and relaxation.

Family friendly scheduleS

We try our best to be family friendly by holding classes at reasonable times and having multiple squads training simultaneously so siblings can swim around the same time at the same pool.

Encouraging adults to swim

If parents enjoy swimming, their children are more likely to enjoy swimming and become stronger swimmers.

Catering equally for BOTH competitive and non-competitive swimmers

We appreciate and respect that people train to achieve different goals and therefore provide programs to cater for those who wish to compete and those who don’t.

Supportive team environment

We try to create a strong sense of community where people feel the pool is their 'home away from home'.
